Fund Inspiration

Andreas Vesalius was a 16th-century anatomist who threw out the inherited authorities of his field and insisted on the principle of autopsia, or seeing for seeing for himself. He dissected, drew, and recorded only what he could directly observe. The textbooks of his era were wrong about basic things, in ways that hurt patients, because no one had bothered to check.

We took the name because it describes how we intend to buy and run a company. We would rather spend a week inside your business than a month with its teaser, and we care more about how the work gets done, and what would break if the wrong person touched it, than about any number on a summary page.

Why healthcare

Healthcare and life sciences are full of services businesses that look invisible until you try to do without them. Lab calibration. Equipment maintenance. Regulatory compliance. Specialized logistics. Quiet, technical, mission-critical work. The regulatory and certification barriers are real enough to keep the field competitive but not crowded.

Both of us have spent our careers in this sector. Cassidy has worked the science and the diligence, from running diagnostics in a regulated lab to advising private equity on medical technology deals. Kayvon has spent years in health-system operations and revenue cycle, learning where the work bottlenecks and how money actually moves through a hospital. When we sit across from an owner in this world, we can hold the conversation on their terms.

What we believe

Here is the belief underneath all of it: the market for small businesses has filled up with buyers running the same playbook, sending the same emails, treating a business as a spreadsheet and the owner as the last obstacle to a close. We are betting on the opposite. A business is its people and its values, the owner is the best teacher we will ever get, and showing up in person still beats showing up in an inbox.
